Loving 3G

Recently I moved from Telstra to 3 Mobile. On 3 Mobile I get all the 3G services at pretty much the same price that I was paying on Telstra. This was one of the chief reasons behind my switch.

My old NEC 412i, while being a nice thin and funky phone, used i-mode to provide dynamic content. Many of the i-mode pages were months out of date and I was getting charged $10-$15 a month for this out-dated content.

Now I'm the proud owner of a nifty Sony Ericsson W880i Walkman Phone. This phone gives me all the features you'd expect in a 3G phone (Internet browsing, video calls, video messaging, live TV, etc...) and it's only 9.4mm thick.

For example at the moment I'm using my mobile phone to watch auction at Grays Online to make sure we get the honking server that we want. Sweet!!

I want one of these dual-core laptops

Dell Releases 17-inch Dual Core Power Laptop

inspiron9400.jpgSo, there are 365 days in the year, and Dell decides to choose today of all days to unveil a new laptop. Yeah, they are going to get a little coverage now, but they will be buried by MacWorld news and information throughout the day. I'll give Dell a little love. This is the Inspiron 9400, a 17-inch widescreen laptop that features high-end 256MB GeForce Go 7800 graphics. It also features a 5-in-1 media card reader, FireWire, six USB ports, analog monitor connection, DVI connection, ExpressCard slot, Gigabit Ethernet, stereo headphones/speakers and a 6-cell lithium-ion battery. This entertaining powerhouse will be selling for $2,600.

Shiny new monitor

The 19" LCD monitor I ordered on Tuesday has arrived :D

To give you idea of the change from my old Compaq 21" CRT monitor, the black squares at the bottom are satellite speakers that used to have sit at the back almost behind the old monitor because there wasn't room beside or in front.

As you can see heaps of extra space surrounding the screen now. To top it all off I'm still running 1600x1200 resolution, but at 180hz !! Talk about a crystal clear piccy :)
